One of our very talented students got the chance to show off his culinary skills, hosting his very own Themed Evening at the College’s multi-million pound Roots Restaurant.
Sam Archer, 18, from Clayton-Le-Moors who is currently studying a Professional Cookery Level 3 qualification at the College said, “Hosting your very own themed evening is a great experience. Being a student and in full control of the kitchen was particularly challenging but I think I did extremely well.”
Chef Lecturer Lee Hyatt, who teaches Sam commented, “I was very impressed with the way Sam handled the night. It’s not easy to manage a kitchen and the pressure of ensuring all the clients are happy with the food is one that can be quite daunting.
Sam did a fantastic job and the food he cooked was to a great standard.”
Sam’s menu, based on seasonal British classics including pork wellington, was planned, prepared and executed by Sam and his fellow students. You can view the full menu here.
Throughout the rest of the academic year our other Level 3 students will also get the opportunity to design, plan and run their own evening in our “Brought to you by…” series. We can’t wait for the next one!
