Catering Students From Haslingden High School Enjoy Afternoon Tea
GCSE students from the Catering Department at Haslingden High School enjoyed a spot of afternoon tea at Accrington and Rossendale College’s state-of-the-art Heartwood Centre on Thursday 14th January.
The session, which was organised to give prospective learners an insight into further education, showcased some of the tasty treats potential learners can expect to learn when studying one of the College’s Hospitality and Catering courses.
Chef Lecturer and Baker at AccRoss College, Steve Smith, said, “It’s great to see young learners who want a career within the industry inspired by the work we are doing. It was particularly great to see some of our students, who were former pupils at Haslingden High School, helping to prepare and serve the food.”
Katie Sieg-Hogg, Head of Catering at Haslingden High commented, “The experience has been a great eye opener for our students. It’s not everyday they get to see behind the scenes of a fully functional restaurant and kitchen. The facilities are amazing and the standard of food on offer is exceptional.”
