Student Menus To Feature In Special ‘Brought To You By’ Evenings
Professional Cookery students from Accrington and Rossendale College’s Hospitality & Catering Department will get the chance to put their culinary skills to the test, hosting their very own ‘Brought to You By’ evening in the College’s state-of-the-art Roots Restaurant.
The evenings, which have been devised and created by Level 3 students and will run at various dates throughout the year, will allow learners the opportunity to have complete control of the kitchen and front of house.
First to put her skills to the test is Rachel Pinder, aged 20 from Clitheroe. The former Assheton Arms Commis Chef will take full control of the restaurant and kitchens on Thursday 10th November 2016 and has based her menu around Bonfire Night.
The evening, which has been titled ‘Knives and Fawkes’ and sold out extremely quickly, features a rich taste of flavours spread across starters, mains and desserts including spiced beef rump, salt and Szechuan pepper king prawns and popping candy crisp and toffee apple cake with ginger fudge bonfire frosting. Rachel commented,
“I am feeling confident about hosting my very own theme evening in Roots Restaurant. I feel that working at the Assheton Arms since I was 14 years old has helped me to prepare for this, I am already thinking about all the preparation and really looking forward to taking full control of the kitchen.”
Anthony Muldowney, Chef Lecturer at Accrington and Rossendale College add, “Every student who is hosting their very own evening has a great opportunity to see what it’s really like to run a kitchen.
Each student has worked extremely hard devising their menu and I’m more than confident they have the skills and experience to deliver a fantastic evening.”
Next to host their very own ‘Brought to You By’ menu after Rachel is Level 3 Professional Cookery student Callum Burrill who works as a Commis Chef at Mitton Hall. Callum’s theme is ‘Game Around The World’ and will take place on Thursday 24th November 2016.
